European Diabetes Leadership Forum
DEXLIFE attended the European Diabetes Leadership Forum in Copenhagen on 25-26 April 2012.
The Forum featured sessions on fighting, measuring and controlling the burden of diabetes, and the health-sector response to diabetes. Leading researchers and professionals were discussing interesting new evidence ranging from the economic impact of diabetes to cost-effectiveness of prevention and screening.
Around 800 delegates gathered at the event including the Danish Prime Minister, the OECD Deputy Secretary-General and the former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan who stated that
“With diabetes causing more deaths worldwide than HIV, malaria and TB combined, the impetus for governments to make it a health priority has never been stronger.”
